Yes, the inbox is getting pretty busy here but I didn’t want to let this week get away from me without posting a great big ol’ shout out to the home-based business crowd out there.
This is major, so pay attention.
The definitive piece of research on home-based business is still Joanne Pratt’s 1999 study, Home Based Business: The Hidden Economy. As it turns out, Joanne has written a new study of home-based businesses, also funded by the SBA’s Office of Advocacy, which will be released at a telephone press conference next week.
Here are the details:
WHAT: National teleconference with the Office of Advocacy releasing a new report the detailing economic contributions of homebased and non-homebased sole proprietors.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 31, 2006. 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 PM. (Eastern Daylight Time).
WHERE: Report release teleconference from the annual meeting of the American Association of Microbusinesses.
WHO: Dr. Chad Moutray, Chief Economist, Office of Advocacy; Joanne Pratt, author of the report; Ron Wacks, President of the American Association of Microbusinesses; Homebased business owners.
WHY: Sole proprietorships are a vital part of our economy. Many are homebased micro businesses; collectively they generate a significant amount of economic activity. According to the report, America’s homebased sole proprietors generate $102 billion in annual revenue.
Among its findings, the report notes that the average homebased sole proprietor earned $22,569 in net income while their non-homebased counterparts earned $38,243.
HOW TO CALL-IN: At 1:00 P.M. (Eastern) on May 31, dial 1-866-740-1260. When prompted for the call code enter 3311103.
Be there or be square.
