The best defense is a godlike power

The news reports are full of George Bush’s replacement flack, Fox News commentator Tony Snow, coming in for the departing Scott McClellan.

Personally, I thought the most interesting take on the whole issue came from today’s Progress Report:

Indeed, Snow has been highly critical of Bush. In rcent weeks, he has gone so far as to claim that Bush has been “an embarrassment,” “impotent,” and someone who “doesn’t seem to mean what he says.” Snow has also been highly critical of Bush’s major policy initiatives. He called his energy policy “filled with stuff that even Jimmy Carter abandoned,” and said Bush’s Medicare and education policies should have Republicans “howling.”

Well, I guess that’s one way to silence a prominent critic — offer him a job where his primary duty will be to spin things your way.

It must be nice to be president.
